Why is Veggies In Motion changing its name to VegMichigan?
Our board felt that the previous name wasn't working as hard as it could be to help promote awareness of the benefits of a plant-based lifestyle. VegMichigan is short, dynamic and flexible--welcoming to vegans, vegetarians and others "on the path"; it reflects our membership and newsletter readership across the state; and it sounds professional--which will be an asset as media coverage grows, and as fundraising becomes increasingly critical to achieving our goals.
Is this still the same organization?
Yes. The organization and its leadership, events, programs and services have not changed.
Who made the decision to change the name?
The Board of Directors, after considering dozens of potential names submitted along with the ambitious goals of our organization and the names of other veg entities around the country.
My membership card says Veggies in Motion. Can I still use it?
Yes. Your card is valid through the expiration date displayed on the card.
Has everything been changed to say VegMichigan now?
No. It's more cost effective to transition to the new name--as inventory needs replacing, for example--than to throw everything out and replace it immediately. We are now VegMichigan, but it's a transitional process that will take about one year to complete.
I hate the new name! (OR) I love the new name! Who can I tell?
We'd love to hear your comments. Please send them to comments@vegmichigan.org.
How can I get more involved and/or make a donation?
We are an all-volunteer organization whose effectiveness depends on the size and strength of our supporters. We need you! If you care about furthering the message of a healthier, more compassionate and more eco-conscious lifestyle, then join or renew your membership; volunteer for a committee, board position or special event; come to a class or potluck; make a donation--or just say, "How can I help?"
