VegMichigan’s Free Festival! @ Riley Park, Downtown Farmington

VegMichigan has found the perfect location to host our 4th Annual Free Festival! We invite you to come and enjoy a lovely afternoon in the heart of beautiful downtown Farmington.

Save the date for Sunday, September 15th as summer will be winding down and there will be just a touch of fall in the air. Enjoy a huge selection of delicious food options from all of our great vendors. Plus, if you would like to explore downtown Farmington, local area restaurants will be offering vegan specials, all within a short walking distance of the festival. Enjoy fun and relaxing music on the spacious concert lawn and feel free to bring your picnic blanket and lawn chairs. We will also have some great shopping and fun for the kids. There is ample free parking. Please bring friends and family. We look forward to seeing you there!

Free Presentation & Vegan Food Tasting @ Ferndale Public Library

“Plant-Based 101: A Healthy, Compassionate, and Sustainable Lifestyle” 

Join VegMichigan for a delicious free vegan food tasting, and presentation by humane educator Kim Korona, who will discuss how eating a plant-based diet will benefit your health,  animals and the environment.

Kim Korona received a B.A. from Goddard College in VT, and a M.Ed. from Cambridge College in MA in affiliation with the Institute for Humane Education. She previously worked for the Michigan Humane Society in both advocacy and education. She also worked as a workshop facilitator for the Institute for Humane Education where she provided training on living a MOGO life, or a life that does the Most Good, Least Harm, to people, other species, and the planet and how to teach humane education. While at HEART, a non-profit education organization, for the past decade, she has developed curricula and other educational resources that promote compassion, critical thinking, and empowerment through topics related to animal protection, environmental ethics, and social justice. She has taught humane education programs to youth of all ages and conducted professional development training’s for educators and advocates, and she currently serves as their Senior Program Director. Kim is a member of the Association for Professional Humane Educators, serves on the executive board of the Humane Education Coalition, is on the advisory board of the Raven Corps., a youth-focused activist organization focused on promoting the benefits of plant-based eating, and she is an active volunteer for VegMichigan. She has been vegetarian for 20 years, vegan for 17 years, and believes that together we can create a healthier, more compassionate, equitable, and sustainable world for all through our personal choices and on a systemic level.

Presentation & Vegan Food Tasting @ Humane Society of Huron Valley

VegMichigan will be hosting a presentation on eating plant-based for our friends at the Humane Society of Huron Valley (HSHV) on Sunday, October 13th. The program, “Plant-Based 101: A Healthy, Compassionate, and Sustainable Lifestyle”, is for volunteers and staff of HSHV to have an opportunity to learn about how eating plant-based will benefit animals, the environment, and their health.
