VegFest 20th Anniversary Celebration @ Suburban Collection Showplace, Novi, Michigan

Come celebrate VegMichigan’s 20th Annual VegFest and learn why there has been such a huge increase in plant-based eating and find out how it can benefit you. This year promises to be the biggest and best VegFest ever! Enjoy over 60 amazing restaurants, free taste samples, cooking demos, cruelty-free shopping, fun for the kids, over 10 entertaining and informative presentations, including Hollywood celebrity Alicia Silverstone and the very popular Dr. Michael Greger. We have doubled the hall space, widened the aisles, and added seating to give attendees plenty of room to enjoy the event. We also added some brand new attractions!

VegFest is Michigan’s largest event focused on promoting the health, ethical, and environmental benefits of a plant-based lifestyle. It will be held at Michigan’s premier convention center, The Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi. Get advance tickets online for only $12.50 (plus a small Eventbrite processing fee). Tickets are $17 at the door. Children 5 and under are free. Your online advance tickets will be conveniently emailed to you so that you can print your tickets or use your smartphone to easily enter the event. Lansing Vegan Potluck @ Clerical Technical Union-MSU

Everyone is welcome! A vegan potluck will be held at the Clerical Technical Union (Conference Room) located at the Northeast corner of Hagadorn and Lake Lansing Roads. Please arrive by 5:45 p.m.

Each adult (over 12 yrs.) should bring a vegan dish to serve 8. Please, no animal products; including meat, eggs, dairy, whey, honey or gelatin. PLEASE bring your recipe cards so I can post them on our Meetup later. Dinnerware and serving spoons will be provided. Monthly Vegan Pizza Buffet @ Original Cottage Inn

The Original Cottage Inn rolled out an entirely vegan menu and we’re so excited to announce a set monthly dinner outing at Cottage Inn! VegMichigan will be dining at the Original Cottage Inn on the 2nd Thursday of each month from 6pm – 8pm. The cost is $20 per person and includes salad, pizza, pop/tea, breadsticks, tax and gratuity! The restaurant is located at 512 East William St. in Ann Arbor. No need to RSVP, just show up!

“Health is a Gift You Give Yourself” presented by Dr. Robert Breakey

Join VegMichigan and Dr. Robert Breakey for a free presentation on the health benefits of eating vegan and a delicious vegan food tasting following the discussion.

Dr. Robert Breakey, MD is a 5th generation graduate from the University of Michigan Medical School. He completed his Family Medicine residency at the University of Wisconsin in 1984 and has practiced Lifestyle Family Medicine in Ann Arbor since 1985. He has special interests in health promotion, whole food plant-based nutrition, positive wellness and supporting the natural healing process that we all have within us. He is Chairman of the Board and Head of the Family Medicine Division for IHA – a multi-specialty medical group centered in and around Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Dr. Breakey has followed a plant based lifestyle himself since 1977. He is on the Board of Directors for the national organization, Plant Based Prevention of Disease (P-POD) and he is the Co-Medical Director with the Plant Based Nutrition Support Group (PBNSG) in Southeast Michigan, where he directs the “Doctors Teaching Doctors” program focused on assisting medical professionals in learning the benefits of a whole food plant-based diet for the prevention and reversal of chronic disease.

“The Miracle of a Plant-Based Diet” Presented by Dr. Joel Kahn 
 
Dr. Joel Kahn will present the science of why a healthy plant-based diet provides all of the nutrition needed to live a healthy and active lifestyle during all stages of life. He will also discuss the growing medical research showing the ability of a plant-based diet to halt and reverse some of the major reasons why we age, such as heart disease, type 2 diabetes, obesity, and even some cancers. Dr. Kahn will also show you how to get started on living your best life.

Dr. Kahn serves as Clinical Professor of Medicine, Wayne State University School of Medicine. He has authored 5 books, the latest of which is the Plant-Based Solution. He is a Summa Cum Laude graduate of the University of Michigan School of Medicine. He writes health articles, is a commentator on Fox 2 News, has a national public TV show, The Whole Heart Solution, and has been seen on The Doctors and Dr. Phil show. Dr. Kahn has treated thousands of acute heart attacks during his career but he’d like to prevent them from happening in the first place. Dr. Kahn and his family are the owners of the very successful GreenSpace Cafe, a plant-based restaurant in downtown Ferndale, where they prove that healthy food can also taste great! He has been plant-based for over 40 years and lectures across the country on optimal health and diet.
