The Power of Green Tea

Imagine sitting down to a flavorful drink each day and reaping the benefits of an improved immune system, lower blood sugar, fewer cavities, slower aging, cancer risk reduction, lower cholesterol, higher metabolism for weight loss, reduced blood pressure, arthritis prevention, reduced heart disease and reduced risk of stroke. Well, it's not your imagination; it’s for real!

Green tea has been proven in many, many studies to do all of these things. The antioxidants, polyphenols and thanine found in abundance in green tea are credited with these astounding results. 
Green, black and oolong teas all come from the same plant. They are produced from the leaves of the Camellia Sinesis tree, but are processed differently for each of the teas. Of the three, green is the most potent.

The leaves are steamed then dried, preserving nearly all of their curative and preventative properties. Unfortunately, not all green teas are equal.

Superior tea comes from leaves that are hand plucked, individually rolled into tight pellets and then sealed in an airtight package. Avoid green teas that have been ground to dust and placed into bleached white tea bags.

To make green tea, use about a teaspoon and brew for 3 to 5 minutes. Green tea should not be brewed to a dark color, but preferably to a pale color. It can be served hot or over ice. For best results drink 5 to 6 cups daily.
