The VegMichigan VegFest, now in its 23rd year, continues to draw plant-based enthusiasts and curious minds alike. With nearly 100 vendors showcasing everything from plant-based restaurants to specialty items, attendees will have no shortage of options to explore.
Eastern Market is getting ready to host the 23rd annual VegFest on June 2, featuring special vendors, cooking demonstrations, and live entertainment. Kim Korona, the program manager, talks to host Ann Thomas about the annual event.
As part of the city’s A2Zero carbon-neutrality mission, the city is now putting big money behind a new campaign to promote plant-based eating.
City Council voted to OK a $135,000 contract with nonprofit VegMichigan to engage and educate the community to advance more sustainable and plant-forward diets.
VegFest is presented by VegMichigan, an organization that promotes a plant-based lifestyle. It runs 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and admission is free. The event draws thousands of people and offers cooking demonstrations, food samples (including comfort foods and sweets) and educational materials.
VegMichigan shares activities that will take place during World Vegan Month, including tailgate parties at the University of Michigan and Michigan State University, where fans can enjoy Beyond Burgers and other vegan versions of tailgate favorites.
