As part of the city’s A2Zero carbon-neutrality mission, the city is now putting big money behind a new campaign to promote plant-based eating.

City Council voted to OK a $135,000 contract with nonprofit VegMichigan to engage and educate the community to advance more sustainable and plant-forward diets.

vegfest returns June 4 to eastern market

VegFest is presented by VegMichigan, an organization that promotes a plant-based lifestyle. It runs 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and admission is free. The event draws thousands of people and offers cooking demonstrations, food samples (including comfort foods and sweets) and educational materials.
