Like many Michiganders, going up north evokes some of my fondest memories. The shimmering blue waters of Grand Traverse Bay, the sweeping green landscapes, and the sweet taste of fresh cherries are unforgettable. The trip provides the opportunity to unplug and truly get away without even leaving the state.

Metro Detroit is full of an overwhelming diversity of food, especially vegan food. In metro Detroit there are three cities that really stand out for their culinary endeavors – Ann Arbor, Dearborn and Detroit. This guide will explore great vegan food in each city as well as a few things to do in between meals. The hardest part is deciding where you’re going to eat first.

The west side of the state is full of enchanting small towns lined with charming shops and fresh produce stands with a lovely feeling in the air to slow down and enjoy the views of Lake Michigan. Over the last few years, it has also become increasingly easier for vegans to not only enjoy West Michigan’s beautiful environment but also, the food.

Millions of people around the world are rising up against police brutality and other acts of violence against people of color. Included are some actions people can take to help bring about racial justice and equity. There are many other things we can do; this list is just a start.
WHITE VEGANS MUST ACTIVELY SUPPORT BLACK LIVES MATTER
I do not profess to be an expert in issues of racial inequality. I would, however, like to speak to White vegans about the importance of expanding our activism. Haven’t we, as a vegan community, already learned how to see the destructive biases and injustices that lurk beneath beloved cultural institutions?
